About Me

I'm Georgia Pou, founder of GP Arch Therapy and a BACP-registered integrative counsellor based in Westerham, Kent.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2022 and have since completed a BSc (Hons). After qualifying, I have worked in voluntary counselling settings, supporting a range of clients and gaining valuable experience. Alongside this, I established GP Arch Therapy, where I offer in-person, online and telephone counselling.

My journey to becoming a counsellor began while working within the NHS on elderly care wards. It was here that I discovered how powerful it can be to simply listen to someone's story. I realised that I am genuinely curious about others experiences of life. That curiosity has stayed with me throughout my career and continues to inspire my learning.

My decision to become a counsellor was further influenced by my own experience of therapy. As a client, I experienced first-hand the value of feeling truly heard, understood and accepted. It reinforced my belief that having a safe, non-judgemental space to explore your thoughts and feelings can be incredibly valuable. My hope is to offer others that same experience.

Therapy can involve difficult conversations and emotions, but there is space for lightness and laughter too. For me, there is room for all aspects of being human. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. I'm naturally curious, so I'll ask questions and gently challenge you when I think it might be helpful. For me, therapy is at its best when it feels like a genuine conversation between two people.
